About Us
The Bharathiar University has established a centre called “University Centre for Students for Part-Time Employment Service” at its City Centre in C.S.I Bishop Appasamy College near Race Course for the benefit of the current students in the University departments and its affiliated colleges to obtain part-time jobs in retail Chain Stores, Fast Food Restaurants, DataEntry Offices, ITES Service Centres, Backend operations for Banks and other service providers. This Centre will be a facilitation office both for the job seekers and job providers. Interested students can register with the University (email id: bharathiuni@gmail.com) and the employers can also register without any service charge. The details of the registered candidates will be shared with the employment providers after verifying their credentials. There is no charge for the students to register with the University. Cities like Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode have enormous potential for part-time jobs. Majority of the colleges complete their classes by 3.pm. Afterwards students have opportunities to work in service organizations and gain experience. Students will also earn and meet their study expenses through this means. Though this scheme is popular in western countries, it has to gain momentum in countries like India. The University has also proposal to convert this learning experience into a minor credit work in the choice-based credit system of education.
The Dept. of Extension, Career Guidance and Students Welfare
The Dept. of Extension, Career Guidance and Students Welfare is one of the Teaching, research and Extension Service departments of the Bharathiar University. The purpose of the Department is to conduct credit and non-credit courses in Educational Extension and Career Guidance. The department supports GOs and Ncn and Adults, Legal literacy, Literacy for Tribal children, Reproductive Health Awareness, Community Colleges and Campaigns for Social Issues like Child Labour Elimination and Education for All. The department also supports the affiliated colleges and NGOs to establish Career Guidance Cells to provide assistance to students in their Career Choice, C.V. Writing, appearing interviews and on-line guidance materials.
